Viscera Awards 2013

 This project really brought together a variety of technologies. The aim was to make an original award but also to create an art piece that evoked both inspiration and beauty. After a couple conversations with the client, a rough sketch was agreed upon. This was then turned over to our in house conceptual artist, who refined and cleaned up the design elements. Upon approval it was put into a software program. A clear acrylic piece was produced with laser etching. The base of the award was a CNC cut out of black acrylic. An internal lighting system was glued into place. Once a cost effective material for the film strip & reel was found, everything started to shape up. This flexible plastic had a thin layer of metal laminate which laser etched wonderfully. It also looked like brushed aluminum, which is what we were going for. The batteries were accessible as the bottom piece locked magnetically. 17 awards were fabricated and the results exceeded all expectations. The 2013 Viscera film festival was a huge success.
