This was on of our very first projects and called for presentational character
prototypes to be fabricated based on the client’s story illustrations and related products.
The initial challenge was translating their 2D pictures into 3 dimensional forms
within the allowed budget. Each head was sculpted, then approved before the
molding process began. Then they were cast up using a thicker formulated liquid
latex. A soft expanding foam was then poured inside each mold to hold the shape
and maintain lightness in weight. Finishing off the pieces with both the use of
airbrushing and hand painting.
